WHAT IS HOME STAGING?
“What is home staging and what is involved?” Let me start
with telling you that staging is the process of turning a
home into a successful sales tool. Put simply, it is
“packaging”.
You may be surprised to learn that only 10% of purchasers
can envision a house “fixed up”, fully furnished and
decorated. By leaving your home in an “as is” condition,
you are helping to sell your competition.
How does a home stager make the difference? By working
together, as a team, to identify the home’s best qualities
and show them off. It is also about identifying the
negatives and creating ways to move the buyer’s focus off
the negative and back to the home.
A home stager is trained to teach you to separate yourself
from the home that you love and to look at the house as a
buyer would. In other words, help you understand that the
family’s favorite, but tired looking, recliner can go into
storage while you sell this home then make its renewed debut
in front of the television at your new home.
A stager will also develop connection points that the buyer
will, in turn, fall in love with. Since most buyers
purchase homes based upon their emotional reaction, the
emotional connection points work magic. When stagers know
how to create those connection points, the buyers sit down
in the kitchen or living room and envision themselves living
there. When that happens, “For Sale turns into SOLD.”
